3 new Combined Med/Peds join Hurley

In last week's National Resident Match, three new residents found a home for the next 4 years in Hurley's Combined Internal Medicine/Pediatrics Residency Training Program, said Program Director Laura Carravallah MD. More than 400 candidates applied for the program, and 35 interviewed. All three of the incoming residents of the 2014-2015 academic year were from the program's top 10 picks.

Meredith Good DO

Dr. Meredith Good, Hurley Medical CenterOriginally hailing from Ames, Iowa, Meredith is graduating from the Flint campus of MSU-College of Osteopathic Medicine this year. She has had a very interesting path, first earning her bachelor's degree from Grinnell College in Iowa in cultural anthropology and Russian language studies. She subsequently got a master's degree in interdisciplinary studies from the University of Iowa, and then an naster in public health-epidemiology degree, also from the U of I. Meredith has worked with Russian youth, both in the US and in Russia, around cultural and health areas, and has worked on a number of research projects around environmental health. Her volunteer work is “too numerous to count.” Meredith lives with her significant other David in Grand Blanc and has two very cute rescue dogs. She enjoys learning new languages, hiking, traveling, reading, gardening and remodeling houses.
 

Attiq-Ur-Rehman MD

Attiq-Ur-Rehman MD, Hurley Medical CenterAttiq is originally from Lahore, Pakistan, and completed his medical training in the Services Institute of Medical Sciences, also in Lahore. He subsequently worked there as as an intern and medical officer before coming to the U.S. Attiq has volunteered as a fundraiser for the first cancer children’s hospital in Pakistan and also assisted victims in the recent devastating floods. In addition to scoring in the first division in all his MBBS exams, Attiq has many additional distinctions:  he was the Best Singer of SIMS, a Founding member of the Dramatics Society, and he received a medal for Distinguished Dressing. 
 

Adiraj Singh MD

Dr. Adiraj Singh, Hurley Medical CenterAdiraj is originally from Kolkata, India. He graduated from Manipal Medical college of Medical Sciences in Nepal, where he received two certificates of honor. He has served as an intern at the Ramakrishna Mission Seva Pratisthan Hospital and then as a resident medical officer at the Medica Superspecialty Hospital in Kolkata before coming to the U.S. While in India, he volunteered to teach
the children of sex workers and also worked in health camps in rural India and Nepal. He enjoys football, cricket, tennis, swimming, travel, cooking and aeromodelling.
